Vivendi Games Mobile Europe Shut Down

image Vivendi (EPA: VIV) Games Mobile Europe is no more. Mobile Entertainment reports that European partners have received “Dear John letters” that effectively ends their contracts with the publisher. A snippet of the letter that ME has seen reads, “I regret to inform you that, following the completion of the merger between Vivendi Games and Activision (NSDQ: ATVI), the new management at Activision Blizzard has decided to discontinue our direct presence in the mobile games market.”

The closure or sale of the France-based mobiles games publisher was always a possibility following Activision’s purchase of Vivendi earlier this year. After the merger, the company said that VGM would be “realigned or divested”. Last week, Activision sold its UK games developer Swordfish Studios to Codemasters and Nottingham, UK-based online multiplayer specialist Monumental Games.
