After AOL decided to focus on its online portals in Europe as well, it has been a bumpy ride there as well: AOL Europe president, Carlo d’Asaro Biondo, is leaving the company after just six weeks in the role, reports Guardian. Biondo, previously the CEO of AOL France, was appointed in November and was AOL Europe’s third president this year.
Philip Rowley, the chairman of AOL Europe, has taken over temporarily, but the long-term succession plans are unclear, as rumours persist that Rowley may himself step down in February, the story says.
AP: Looks like he is joining some other company: “This was an extremely difficult decision for me to make, in light of my recent appointment, but I was offered an opportunity that I did not have the courage to refuse,” d’Asaro wrote employees Wednesday. “This is entirely a personal decision and has nothing to do with AOL as a company.”
