Shazam Gets $6.6 M Funding

Shazam Entertainment, which runs a popular music recognition service for mobile phones in UK, has received $6.6 million in a new round of funding from IDG Ventures Europe and Lynx Capital Ventures, both of which invested in the last round, and a news investor Soft Park, an IDG Fund in China.

The latest funding will be used to kick start further international expansion into Asia, Europe and North America, and to expand the range of services offered. It is currently preparing to launch an additional service called Songmail, announced last December, which allows users to send a 30-second song clip to a friend’s mobile, as well as ringtones and CD purchases.
