Sony Pictures Television has extended its partnership with Arts Alliance Media to launch a download-to-own deal for 40 movies through LOVEFiLM and AOL in the UK this week. This follows the download-to-rent deal between Sony and AAM earlier this year and is Sony’s first DTO deal in Europe. In license terms, the new service means users can download a movie and store locally indefinitely, download an additional copy for portably devices and receive a copy on DVD. Downloads are in Windows PlayForSure format and later this year the service will also offer DVD burning.
