UK Retail Group GUS Buys PriceGrabber.com For $485 Million

Founded in 1999, privately held California-based Pricegrabber is being acquired by the Experian division of GUS and will become part of Experian InteractiveSM. Experian exec Don Roberts said PriceGrabber, which predicts 2005 sales of $60 million, has higher profit margins than the larger Shopzilla.com and Shopping.com, according to the BBC.
PriceGrabber has relationships with more than 9,000 retailers and powers comparison shopping on more than 300 Web sites, including Ask Jeeves, MSN, Comcast, Bell South and About.com. Press release.
