Six Hollywood studios have urged the UK’s competition watchdog to throw out its assertion their Sky Movies deals are anti-competitive. But some of them are warming to its suggestion BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) should offer rival services like Netflix (NSDQ: NFLX) over its own set top boxes.

In a move that further sets up Kazuo Hirai as the heir apparent at Sony (NYSE: SNE), the company has promoted him to president, taking that title away from Howard Stringer but keeping Stringer in place as CEO and chairman of the board, according to a report.

Sony (NYSE: SNE) has confirmed it is buying Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) out of their Sony Ericsson mobile handset-making joint venture for €1.05 ($1.46/£0.92) billion.
“Our four-screen strategy is in place,” Sony CEO Howard Stringer says.
